Ball diamond is difficult maintanence but it has been sprayed.

Maintenance inspector is taking Bonita Bair to court regarding maintanence. There is question about her health certificate for water that determines whether she is still grandfathered or reverted to residential zoning. Trustees want to have a judge decide.

There were a record number of potential candidates in Fairfield County turned down for the ballot this year, even including the current mayor of Thurston. No one really had an explanation as to why.

Tornado shelter locks have been working inconjunction with the sirens without fail. A refrigerator and double sink were installed for the senior citizens who meet here regularly. Balderson’s office is helping to the the $700,000 outstanding to pay for the shelter. Krisi Noem has to sign off as it is under DHS. There have been large variety of excuses as to why the money has not been released.

5. BLRC report:

Annual Tricounty Kid’s Bike Safety Rodeo will be in the Thornville area (exact site TBD) May 9th 2026. Licking, Fairfield and Perry county health departments all support this event.

Bike trail is slowly progressing. Lancer road multiuse path should be completed this week.

Picnic Point is getting hard surface walkways and the large pavilion is being renovated.

We did have some blue green algae this year but it was quickly controlled. A drone has been developed that can swim in shallow water and direct UV light to reduce algae and bacteria but it is expensive and high maintanence. Lake Keepers are monitoring phosporus and algae.

Check out BLRC social media, new features are being developed.

Dredge will stop working in coming month.

Efforts are being made to reduce phosporus runoff from fields into the lake and to clean Feeder Creek and Honey Creek. Work continues toward revitalization of 3 current wetlands and creating new ones. These will filter and clean the water coming into the lake.

Other local projects like Crystal Lagoon and promonade are progressing slowly, lots of engineering studies, politics and funding impacts.
